Villa St. Maurice in the Lower 9th Ward is buzzing with activity.
It will celebrate one year on September 22nd, 2017. The facility has grown since those first days.
It's home to a chapel that can seat dozens of people.
Community Manager Tanisha Goodman says she keeps the active seniors at the facility on the move. There's even a thrift store at the location on St. Maurice Avenue.
That thrift store helped with the purchase of some new rocking chairs. Those chairs sit on an expansive deck overlooking what will soon be a community garden.
The seeds have already been planted and the community is looking forward to fall vegetables.
