The two agencies are working to restore the area with goals of: stormwater storage, wildlife preservation, neighborhood enhancement and environmental education. They are meeting with members of the community to gain input and engagement in the project as the masterplan is being developed.
Villa St. Maurice residents offered great ideas for consideration, some of which included: a botanical garden, walking/biking trails, picnic areas, historical plaques about the Ninth Ward, recreational activities and programming opportunities for children to assist with park development and aesthetics.
