Wynhoven Senior Living in Marrero became a one-stop-shop for residents wanting more information about resources in the community. On August 17th the facility opened its doors to several different agencies, which included several home health providers, the Jefferson Council on Aging as well as New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries.
Booths lined the activity hall where residents were able to collect the many items given out by the vendors. Natasha Baxter, the service coordinator at Wynhoven, organized the event. She says that while alot of work went into the health fair, it was worth it to have all of those resources in one place for her residents. Denise Batiste, Wynhoven's activity coordinator, helped setup the luau themed decorations and take pictures of residents at a photo booth.
Door prizes, which were provided by some of the vendors, were also given out. Deacon Dennis Adams, Executive Director for Christopher Homes, was on hand to give out the big prize which was a flat screen television. Christopher Homes sponsored the main giveaway. Lunch was also provided by JenCare, Aetna and Pace.
